Stakeholder Engagement
Understanding stakeholder engagement means understanding the relationship between an organization and its stakeholders. Stakeholders engage with businesses directly, through letters and emails, and indirectly through the media or social activist groups. Businesses often engage with the communities in order to stabilise their environment and build, rebuild or maintain their legitimacy. They may also inform, consult, collaborate and establish partnerships. Over the years, various types of multi-stakeholder partnerships and initiatives have been formed. They create social value, solve complex problems and establish new norms of practice. The purpose of this section is to provide research based information on various approaches to community engagement. Use the links on the left to retrieve reports and our Research Insights or search our complete database using your own keywords. The Network commissioned a thorough review on community engagement based on the 2007-8 Knowledge Priorities. If you would like to add or comment on this section, please contact us.
