Bob Hamilton Joins NBS Board

NBS is pleased to announce that Mr. Bob Hamilton, Deputy Minister for Environment Canada, has agreed to join the NBS Advisory Board for a three-year term.

As Associate Deputy Minister of Environment Canada, Hamilton worked on Canada’s environment policies, including aligning Canadian and US greenhouse gas regulations for the automobile industry. His extensive background in finance and tax policy, combined with his environmental portfolio, make him a powerful contributor to the sustainability dialogue and a valued member of NBS’s Advisory Board.

In a presentation January 28th at Western University, deputy minister Hamilton expressed the important role research plays in designing better policies. He observed that researchers and government often work on parallel issues and need infrastructure to connect them and encourage dialogue.

NBS looks forward to deepening its relationship with Environment Canada, which was a founding member of NBS’s Leadership Council in 2007. Since then, Environment Canada has been an active supporter of NBS’s efforts to find, translate and share the best sustainability research.
