Justin Li: Thinking About The Future

NBS Staff discuss their interests, their goals, and what drove them to pursue business sustainability.

What is your official job description at NBS?

My main focus is to support NBS’ digital engagement initiatives. This includes new articles, newsletters, campaigns, SEO, videos, audios, and other digital tools. I work very closely with other members of the team to brainstorm new ideas and to increase NBS’ reach.

What are you personally trying to achieve at NBS? Or, why did you decide to work at NBS?

I am currently completing my final year as a Dual degree student in Computer Science and Business at Ivey Business School. As a business student, I understand the importance of sustainability and how it will be the driving factor for successful business in the future. After graduation, I hope to pursue a career in the Tech industry and I strongly believe that my time here at NBS will help shape my approach to keep sustainability at the top of my mind.

What are your interests outside work?

There are two things that I love to do outside of work: travelling and eating. I have been to over 12 countries so far (hopefully more to come in the future) and each place has taught me something different. When you submerge yourself in a new culture and a new environment, you start to look at things in a completely different perspective. In addition to travelling, I am also a big foodie. I love trying new cuisine from around the world and appreciating its taste. If you ever need food recommendations, feel free to shoot me a message!

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

I like to think of the world as a roller coaster, where there are ups and there are downs. One day, everything will go according to plan but the next day might be a complete disaster. The happiest people are the ones that can maintain their composure during the entire ride. Stay humble and positive, because after every downhill there’s always an uphill.

Who – past or present – would you like to invite to a dinner party?

I’d love to have dinner with Steve Jobs. Although he wasn’t the best boss/leader during his time at Apple, he is considered as one of the most creative geniuses in the world. I think trying to understand the way he thinks about the future might be a very fun conversation.
