Centre for Sustainability and Business Innovation Studies
To develop knowledge and technology that can support the principles of sustainability in terms of economy, social justice and the environment through the adoption of interdisciplinary research and education that is based on stakeholder involvement.
The centre was launched on October 10, 2011 as a non-profit centre at Narotama University, Surabaya, Indonesia and is a partner of the National Center for Sustainability Reporting (NCSR) for East Java. During 2011 until today, the centre conducts the following activities:
The centre is currently hosting three research activities. They are as the following:
- Building the concept of sustainable development education in higher education from the perspectives of stakeholders. The research is conducted by cooperating with the Faculty of Economics, Narotama University. The first draft of the research has been presented in the 23rd International Congress on Social and Environmental Accounting Research, University of St. Andrews, U.K.
- The Role of Board of Commissioners’ and Directors’ Finance and Sustainability-Related Competencies in Advancing Sustainability Accounting in Companies. The research is a joint research with the National Center for Sustainability Reporting (NCSR) Indonesia. We plan to present the first draft in an international conference.
- The database of safe products. The applied research is a joint research with the Association of Indonesian Web Industry. The purpose of developing the database is to provide information about safe materials for various products that small- to medium-sized Indonesian companies are interested in producing.
The Head of CSBIS is Dr. Dewi Fitriasari. CSBIS has a vice director and two secretaries. CSBIS is responsible for developing related education materials and research within the university. It develops strategic partnerships to develop sustainability education and research in Indonesia.
