Develop, disseminate and implement tools that permit the incorporation of Social Responsibility in the management of businesses and public and/or private organizations, in order to improve their competitiveness and sustainability, whilst responding to their stakeholder's expectations.
Centre Vincular for Social Responsibility and Sustainable Development, in the School of Commercial Engineering, was established in 2001 within the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaiso (PUCV). It became the first Chilean University Centre specialised in the development and implementation of Social Responsibility management instruments, dedicated to applied research, consultancy and technology transfer, developing skills & training focused on best practices applied on private companies and public policies, in order to promote Sustainable Development on a national and regional basis.
Centre Vincular PUCV is a reference point in Latin America, for its recognized experience in the integration of Social Responsibility in the management of numerous large businesses and SMEs, as well as in organisations, business associations and government institutions.
This aforementioned Centre, participate actively in the standardization process for Social Responsibility at an international level, contributing with more than twelve years of work experience. Highlights include the participation as a key agent in the development of the ISO 26000 Social Responsibility Standard, in addition to a diverse range of expert working groups convened by the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). In that sense, Vincular PUCV is made up of a multidisciplinary team in Chile and Colombia, in addition to an extensive international network of consultants, researchers and institutional alliances in thirteen Latin American countries.
Centre Vincular PUCV participated actively in the development of the international standard ISO 26000 for Social Responsibility. Our Executive Director, Dante Pesce, was a member of the Chair’s Advisory Group (CAG), the International Working Group responsible for the development of the Standard, as well as President of the Translation Taskforce for the Spanish version. Currently he is a member of the Post Publication Organisation for ISO 26000 (PPO), in charge of the dissemination of the standard. With the support of the German Cooperation Agency (GIZ), since 2011, this Centre has developed a dissemination and training programme for the ISO 26000 Standard in Spanish speaking countries. As a result of this effort, we have trained more than one thousand executives in thirteen Latin American countries.
Current stakeholder organisation of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), the institution that develops the most internationally well-known methodology for the elaboration of Sustainability Reports. Dante Pesce, its Executive Director, is a recognized member of the G4 Stakeholder Council in the GRI. He actively participated in the international working groups for transparency in the supply chain, and corruption, as a part of the development of the G4 Guideline. In addition, he was part of the expert working groups on the principles of G3 as well as human rights for G3.1 and the Hi 5 Guide for SMEs. In partnership with the IDEARSE Centre in Mexico, Centre Vincular is a duly certified trainer in the GRI methodology for Hispano-America.
