Mission

To improve the management and governance of enterprises and organizations with a social or community vocation.

Main Activities

Since its creation in 2012, the activities of the IDEOS hub include training and support programs, transfer of expertise, and applied research. It seeks to encourage students to develop managerial skills adapted to the reality of social enterprises, to document managerial practices and challenges by working with organizations in the field, to develop and adapt managerial tools for the needs of social enterprises, and to build training and support programs that will respond to the specific needs of businesses and social organizations in Greater Montréal and Québec.

Specifically, the IDEOS hub supports students interested in projects with social impact through experiential learning in order to develop their know-how and their skills in socially-oriented organizations of various economic sectors. For example, since its inception, the IDEOS hub has granted 84 scholarships totalling $ 288,500 (Canadian dollars) to students whose study projects were undertaken in social enterprises and organizations (SEO). IDEOS also organizes the International Social Business Creation competition (https://socialbusinesscreation.hec.ca), which trained 114 participating teams from 48 universities, representing 20 countries on 5 continents, since 2016.
