What is your official job description at NBS?

I am the Data Management Specialist at NBS. I help to organize NBS’s vast amount of resources so it’s easier to access for business managers. I also help with internal research initiatives.

Why did you decide to work at NBS?

I wanted to deepen my knowledge of sustainability and how it applies to the business world. I also get to support and learn from an amazing team that I can help to make a positive impact.

How did you become interested in the area of business sustainability?

I have always been interested in sustainability, but the connection with business began in my HBA1 year, where I tackled business cases involving sustainability. It really taught me about the challenges and opportunities of incorporating sustainability into businesses, as well as the power of businesses to create change.

What are your interests outside work?

In my free time, I like to play the piano and game. I mainly play RPGs like Fallout, but I’m also one of very few people who play old RTSs like Command and Conquer. To balance my time sitting at my computer, I like to take a book to the park and read, preferably next to running water and trees.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

“Hope for the best, prepare for the worst, and whatever happens, happens.” The first half is a common saying, the second half comes from Cowboy Bebop. Together, this has helped give me a balanced outlook on life.
