Catherine McDonald is a PhD candidate at the University of St. Gallen, where she works at the Institute for Business Ethics (IWE). Her research focuses on corporate responsibility in the field of business & human rights, which she first examined within the DRC’s cobalt industry for her master’s thesis. She has continued to pursue this topic for her PhD dissertation, and is currently researching the corporate responsibilities of companies when they engage in corporate diplomacy within humanitarian and development contexts. Previously, Catherine worked for the International Committee of the Red Cross as well as various agencies of the United Nations in Kosovo, New York and Geneva.
